Here at RoxPaw, we do our best to tailor our services to the needs of your furry family member.

It is important for us to get to know you, your loved one, and come up with the best course of action for their care. We value the human-animal bond will do whatever it takes to get your pet back to feeling happy and healthy. The difference at our clinic? You will never feel pressured or intimated as we do our best to make sure you know we’re all on the same team.

RoxPaw, we are excited to say that our surgeon is also family. Dustin Devine DVM, MS, DACVS performs TPLO’s, MPL’s, FHOs, fracture repairs, and other advanced surgical procedures. We built our surgical suite with this in mind. Top of the line lighting, surgical table, and monitoring equipment. Rest assured that your pet is in excellent hands. To learn more about Dustin, click here.

We know surgical procedures of this caliber can be concerning, worrisome, and sometimes overwhelming! Feel free to email or give us a call so we can answer your questions. Consultation with Dustin is also an option through RoxPaw to put your worries at ease.

Arthroscopy provides excellent magnified visualization of the joint surfaces enhancing the ability to diagnose and treat an abundance of intra-articular pathologies. This has become the gold standard and we are thrilled to be offering this service to our patients. In addition, some of the common conditions diagnosed and treated arthroscopically include:

  • Osteochondrosis (OCD) of the shoulder, elbow, stifle and hock – Elbow Dysplasia
  • Shoulder conditions
  • Cruciate ligament disease

We know surgical procedures can be a financial concern. We try to be very fair in our costs. If you would like an estimate, please feel free to give us a call or send an email.

We are thrilled to offer laparoscopic spays at RoxPaw. This is the gold standard. The procedure is done by Dustin Devine DVM, MS, DACVS, and two tiny portholes near the bellybutton are made to remove the ovaries only (unless the owner requests otherwise). The procedure is less invasive, with faster recovery, and reduced pain. Cats and dogs of all sizes qualify. It is a more costly option due to the expertise required to perform the surgery and equipment utilized.

With the use of a scope, a Gastropexy can also be performed. For the larger and deep-chested breeds, there is concern about the stomach twist. This surgery acts as a preventative for that to happen in the future. This is a true laparoscopic procedure (not laparoscopic-assisted). Many owners choose to do this at the time of a spay/ neuter, but it can be done at any time. This procedure is also done by our board-certified surgeon.

Minimally invasive surgery is simply “less is more”. It is done in human surgery, why not be able to give the same top of the line care for our furry friends!

At RoxPaw, we offer both spay and neuter services. With our spays, we encourage laparoscopic for the larger breeds as the procedure is less invasive with faster recovery time. For the smaller breeds, we can perform both traditional ovariohysterectomy and laparoscopic ovariectomy. Neuters are complete castration with both testicles removed. If he is a single or double cryptorchid, we perform this castration laparoscopically.

Our sterilization services come as a package including:

  • Pre-anesthetic bloodwork
  • IV catheter/warm fluids
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Pain/antibiotic injections
  • Day-time hospitalization/Supportive Care
  • An Elizabethan collar, pain medicine, and post-op instructions will be sent home with you
  • After the procedure, our team tailors a recovery plan for your furry friend and will guide you through the recovery process

Here at RoxPaw, we believe that dental cleanings are VERY important to your pet’s overall health. Our four-legged family members deserve dental care just like we do. Dental Disease/Tartar leads to bacteria that circulate throughout your pet’s system. Not good! We are looking out for your furry friend and routine dental hygiene is important for their wellbeing.

We provide Ultrasonic scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar build-up with our brand-new equipment. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is completed prior and your pet is anesthetized for this procedure. ‘Awake dentals’ are not offered as sufficient cleaning is not possible, a pet can feel pain leading to fear, and their vitals can spike.

We sometimes hear from pet owners that they feel their kiddo is too old for this procedure. We would be happy to chat about your concerns. Dental cleanings are actually done quite often on our geriatrics as it is just as important to their health, if not more. We treat your pet as if they were our own.

Here at RoxPaw, we believe in practicing fear-free methods. We want your furry friends to enjoy coming to see us. We try to make their visit as comfortable as possible. Our exams are never rushed and we take our time to ensure it is as stress-free as possible.

We do recommend vaccines to protect your four-legged family members. Many diseases and illnesses are preventable through proper pet vaccinations. Outside of the ‘core’ vaccines (Rabies & Distemper/Parvo), we do offer supplemental vaccines to give extra protection if needed (Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Bivalent Flu, Rattlesnake for Dogs and Leukemia for Cats).

The Rabies vaccine we offer is TF (Thimeserol Free), meaning they are free of any hard metals (i.e. Mercury) added in. We get to chose the products at RoxPaw and only want the best!

We do recommend heartworm prevention. Heartgard and Interceptor Plus are carried in-house, in addition to Nexgard for those pesky fleas/ticks. If you prefer another brand, please take a look at our online pharmacy. We thank you for shopping local and supporting our small business.

We HIGHLY encourage annual wellness and dental exams for cats/dogs of all ages. Our consults are a minimum of 30 minutes, so we ensure there is time to adequately discuss your concerns. No question is too big or too small when it comes to your pet’s health. Dr. Van will be happy to discuss diagnostics and preventatives that are appropriate at the exam. We strive to practice preventative medicine and believe in empowering our pet parents with knowledge, so they can make the best decisions for their kiddos. We want to ensure your furry friends live the healthiest lives possible!

Our furry friends cannot tell us what is wrong, which is why these diagnostics tools are so important. At RoxPaw, we have invested in brand new state of the art equipment allowing us to perform testing that is specifically tailored to your pet’s individual needs. The best part is we can have results and answers quickly!

  • Complete CBC and Chemistry Panels
  • Urinalysis and Sedimentation
  • Fecals (testing for giardia, hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, & tapeworms)
  • Heartworm Disease
  • Viral Identification (Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, & Parvovirus)
  • Ear Cytology
  • Skin Scrapes

For the few tests that we cannot run in-house, we work with an external laboratory (ZNLabs) for more extensive testing and Universities for:

  • Histopathology
  • Comprehensive thyroid Panels – Bacterial Cultures
  • Fungal Cultures
  • Fluid Cytology

We have a brand new digital x-ray system providing crystal clear images for diagnostics head to tail. This allows us to spot disease, skeletal fractures, foreign bodies, etc in a short amount of time. Digital radiographs expose your pet to less radiation making it safer for them and allow us to be more efficient. As a bonus, we collaborate with a board-certified radiologist to provide additional input if needed.

OFA x-rays, offered ay RoxPaw and commonly utilized by breeders, can be taken for identification of hip dysplasia in dogs. Your fur-ball must be over 2 years of age and general anesthesia is required for an accurate diagnosis. Hips are graded as Normal (Excellent, Good, Fair), Borderline, or Dysplastic (Mild, Moderate, Severe). If your pet receives a grade of Excellent, Good, or Fair and is within normal limits, then he/she will be given OFA numbers. These x-rays are looked at by three radiologists to give a fair judgment.

Ultrasound is another valuable diagnostic tool creating real-time images of an animal’s body. This painless and non-invasive procedure reveals important information about internal processes including the circulatory, skeletal, and gastrointestinal systems, helping identify disease, blockages, and internal injury. We are proud to offer this service in-house for our patients and we work alongside a board-certified radiologist.

If your pet is in need of a CT Scan or MRI, we do offer referral services. Please feel free to reach out if you have ANY questions.

Neurology

At RoxPaw, if your furry friend needs further treatment or care once we have done an initial neuro exam, we have a relationship with a board-certified specialist close by. We will help every step of the way with this process to ensure your referral runs smoothly.

Cardiology

If your pet is suffering from heart issues, have no fear. We work with a board-certified cardiologist who comes to our clinic to perform advanced testing and diagnostics. If more immediate services are needed, we do work with referral hospitals where your loved one can receive care quickly.

Microchipping

Our spiel is simply this – Microchip your pets! It is estimated that 1 out of 3 fur-balls become lost at some point in their life. The chip is a safe and efficient means to identify your kiddo (we call it a permanent ID tag). It is administered like a vaccine and is nearly the size of a grain of rice. Almost every vet clinic and shelter has the ability to scan a pet to help reunite them to their owner.

The chip we offer comes with lifetime registration, so no pesky yearly activation fee’s. Once it is purchased, inserted, and registered, that’s all there is to it. However, if an owner relocates or the pet is rehomed, please remember to update the info!

If you find a pet running loose, please give us a call. If you are able to safely catch the dog/cat and do not see an ID tag, we would be happy to use our scanner to see if we can help reunite them to their pet parent.

Health Certificates

We know when it’s time to travel, our lives get chaotic. For most of us, it leads to anxiety. If your furry friend is accompanying you, let us know in advance to make sure all of the paperwork and forms are completed ahead of time. Each airline is unique. If you are traveling out of the country or to Hawaii, it can be even more cumbersome. Let us know your plans and we will be happy to help!

We do take emergencies during our normal business hours. If you feel your pet is sick, uncomfortable, injured, or just not quite right, please feel free to reach out to us by phone or email. We will do our best to get your kiddo in for an exam and further diagnostics if needed.

If it is outside of our normal business hours, we recommend our patients go to:

Colorado Veterinary Specialty Group & ER
Open 24/7 with veterinarians on staff all day/night
401 E County Line Rd, Littleton, CO 80122
303-794-1188

At RoxPaw, we do offer end of life care services. We are here to guide you through this difficult time and decisions that come with it. To discuss further or if you have any questions, please feel free to either call or email.

We also want our clients to be aware of Caring Pathways. This is an incredible service, though not for everyone, where a veterinarian will come to your home to put your loved one to rest. It reduces stress, anxiety, and allows your pet to be in the comfort of their own home. If you would like to know more, please reach out to them.
